Level 1 - General Psychopathology

BWRT® Training Course Details

BWRT® Level 1 Practitioner Course

Overview

This 2-day course provides thorough training in BWRT® Level 1 which is the starting level for all therapists who are new to BWRT training. Completing the Level 1 training equips you with a rapid method to work with many issues such as phobias, habits, trauma, anger, anxiety including GAD, grief, depression and many other symptom patterns. A single session of BWRT at this level is often sufficient to permanently resolve some presenting issues, although you may need more for some clients, especially where there are multiple presenting symptoms.
Based around the latest discoveries in neuroscience, BWRT® provides easy-to-understand psychoeducation for your clients that will help them understand why they feel powerless to stop destructive behaviours that affect their well-being. It allows effortless ‘reprogramming’ of learned negative constructs and even makes it possible to change emotional memory and associated complex behaviour patterns.
On completion of the training weekend you will be a qualified and certificated BWRT Professional Practitioner.

On successful completion of an assessment following the training weekend you will be eligible to join the Terence Watts Institute of BrainWorking Recursive Therapy which will give you Registered Practitioner status and access to a massive library of extra information and resource.

What does the course cover?

Over the 2 days you will learn:

  • A brief history of the therapy including an overview of the human brain and why we are sometimes unable to override negative thought patterns, phobias, emotions and habits.
  • How to use BWRT® level 1 to help clients tackle negative patterns of thinking that may have held them back or caused them problems for years.
  • How in just a few sessions you can work to enable the client to release emotions ‘trapped’ maybe for years in patterns of behaviour that have been damaging and destructive to them and their goals.
  • How old negative patterns of behaviour can be stopped and destroyed before they reach conscious awareness.
  • How to work ‘content free’ so that your client does not need to give details about past events at the root of their problems.
  • How to work with clients experiencing an ongoing situation for which there is no immediate solution.
  • How to ask the right questions so that you can get the best possible results for your client.

You will have the benefit of working hands on in the classroom with an experienced tutor who is an advanced accredited practitioner and supervisor.

You will also receive a fully illustrated manual and templates that illustrate the working methods.

How the course is structured

There is a mix of theory and practical work over the weekend, with live demonstrations of the main protocols. We use a projector screen with slides to show visuals and highlight the main points of theory. The practical sessions are conducted in small breakout groups with the main tutor and classroom assistants supervising.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand why something that happened many years ago is still current as far the brain is concerned.
  • Recognise that the subconscious does not always try to protect us.
  • Understand the decision-making process of the brain, and how it starts making decisions without our conscious input.
  • Deal effectively with the ‘worry loop’ that can stop someone in their tracks.
  • Test the suitability of a client/patient for this style of work.
  • Assess the best methodology for the presenting symptom pattern(s).
  • Deliver a ‘content free’ intervention via a structured protocol.
  • Conducting the therapy from start to finish.
